What is Magnolia Support Group?

The Magnolia Support Group has proudly supported Magnolia-area youth through the MISD Livestock Show & Sale since 1990. We are incredibly grateful to the families, businesses, elected officials, and community members who have generously supported our efforts throughout the years.

The success of the MISD Livestock Show & Sale depends on the generosity of our community. Many supporters may not be able to make a livestock purchase on their own, but when we come together, our collective support can make a tremendous difference in the lives of deserving students. Thanks to the generosity of our community in 2025, the Magnolia Support Group reinvested more than $25,000 into the MISD Livestock Show, benefiting 58 students. These funds supported live auction purchases, helped strengthen bids for multiple students, and provided additional support through post-sale purchases and add-ons.

The Magnolia Support Group was founded in 1990 by dedicated members of our local community who recognized the importance of investing in Magnolia’s youth. In 2015, the group established a scholarship program in memory of one of its founders, the late Richard Anderson. Through the generosity of his family and the MISD Livestock Committee, funds were provided to establish this scholarship, which continues to benefit graduating seniors from Magnolia High School and Magnolia West High School who have demonstrated commitment and growth through the FFA program.  This program continues to benefit deserving MHS and MWHS seniors who have grown & prospered from the FFA program. In 2025, 2 students, one from each high school, each received $1500 scholarships for a total of $3000 to continue their education in agriculture.

In 2022, Magnolia Support Group was asked to hold the Bingo license for all of MISD.  With the bingo license, we are able to host bingo events to raise funds for student organizations at MHS & MWHS. There are 4 bingo events each school year that benefit more than 30 groups of students.  Our goal is to be able to raise enough funds to create more scholarship opportunities in 2027.
